TRAVEL UP 13% Havana - DTC - Tourist arrivals in Cuba's major destinations grew by 13.02 percent last year, compared to 2002. According to sources from the leisure industry, the Caribbean Island received 1,905,682 foreign vacationers, in contrast to 1,686,000 tourists who visited the country in 2002. Travelers from Canada, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain and Mexico accounted for 67 percent, totaling 1,269,673 vacationers. Tourist arrivals from that group of countries increased by 14.5 percent in 2003, compared to the previous year. Canada continued to be the leading market with 452,438 vacationers, an increase of 29.8 percent in relation to 2002. |
