Testimonials

Just a few client comments, We would love to  have feedback from all of our clients, should you decide to reserve a trip with us to Cuba. We also have a wholesaler that is booking trips to Costa Rica and other locations is central America, and Caribbean if you are interested.

Madison Birdsong,

We had a fantastic trip to Cuba ...all transfers went smoothly and we went on tour to see Cienfuegos and Trinidad. Everything was great and what an eye opening experience. No problems when we returned...nothing examined and we brought back some souvenirs successfully.

Thanks so much for all your help,  (Jan 2010)

Madison,

We just got back from Cuba and I wanted to make sure to thank you for helping us with arrangements and advice! We had an amazing trip and everything went smoothly. The tickets were waiting for us at the airport in Cancun and we had made arrangements for a driver to pick us up and take us to our casa's

We stayed in a fantastic home in centro habana owned by Luis and Luisa, it was $25 CUC per night and i would highly recommend it to anyone who was looking- sad@infomed.sld.cu

We were not able to go to Trinidad because, as you had warned us, there were no rental cars and we couldn't even get a bus ticket! But we took a nice day trip to Vinales with a tour company. And of course the city of Havana is so large that even being there for almost 2 weeks we didn't see everything.

On the last 2 nights we checked into the Hotel Sevilla. The hotel was great.

We took lots of things to donate and left some with our casa family and gave some to the nurse at the Hotel.

We all had a wonderful time, we were even invited to a party at our casa's with all their friends and family, it was a blast!!

Again thank you for all your help and advice!!! I will absolutely recommend you to any one who is going to Cuba- hopefully it won't be long before we can all book it for ourselves!!

Best to you and happy new year!! (Dec 2009)

I saw that you have a “testimonial” section on your web site.  We had the trip of a lifetime, and an absolute blast wherever we went.  Please feel free to post:

If you’re thinking of going to Cuba, and see it as it is before the lifting of the US embargo (and the subsequent McDonald’s and KFC on every street corner), this is THE place to book your trip.  We went in Oct. of 2009, and things could not have gone smoother.  Just as Madison said, we were met at our departure airport by a representative who had all our paperwork in order – airline tickets, hotel reservations, transfers, etc.  Once we landed in Havana, we were met by another representative who, again, made sure that everything was in order.  He even went behind the counter at the CADECA (currency exchange bank) and got our Cuban currency so we wouldn’t have to wait in line.  This was just the beginning of the incredible courtesy, warmth, and friendship we experienced with the Cuban people.  And, once we arrived at our hotel, the room was ready and the staff was expecting us – again with a warmth and graciousness that defies description but has to be experienced.  We stayed at 3 different locations (Old Havana, Varadero, and Hotel Nacional) while in Cuba, and every transfer and reservation were in place and went like clockwork.  I can not thank you enough for helping us plan, and experience one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. (Oct 2009)

  • Hi Madison,
Just a short note to Thank you / Cuba travel for a great trip. We had a wonderful time and all went well, your representatives in Cancun were very helpful & thank you once again for your information and the organization of our trip.

    Kind Regards,

  • I just want to thank you for your help sending me to Cuba.  I had a wonderful time and a fantastic experience with the Cuban people.  The travel arrangements were perfect…. Absolutely perfect.  The representative in Cancun had all my paperwork in order… the hotel was in a great location… the transfers to and from the airport were right there waiting for me.  Havanatur is very well run.

I will certainly be going back and so you will hear from me again.  Thank you so much.

  • Returned from Cuba without incident--had a great time. We are very satisfied with your work for us. I will eagerly refer you to my friends who now say they want to go to Cuba.

        Thanks again.

  • WE arrived home safe and sound and eager to return to Cuba!  Your help and guidance made the trip especially memorable.  New Year’s Eve at the Saratoga Hotel was great fun and it was wonderful to see the lights of Havana at night.  Next time, we’d like to see more of the countryside as well as other coastal areas.  We hope you have a good New Year and thank you again..

  • Once again thank you so very much. You and your company bring this world to a better place.

  • Hello Madison,

I just want to thank you for your advice and assistance with my travel to
Cuba. It was really an amazing journey and I found what I was looking
    for, and much more.

    saludos,

  • Thanks so much for your advice.  Customs yesterday was no problem.  As you predicted, neither of us were asked about the Mexico stamps, and it didn't seem like the agents even looked at them.  Thanks so much for your personal help and the help from your website.  We couldn't have done it without you.  Keep up the great work. Thanks a million,

  • We are so grateful to have found your agency. In the past we used Nash in Canada, the service was terrible, the prices kept changing, constantly a different person helping us..... so had to get caught up with what was going on with our trip... and on and on. Madison helped us on both of our most recent trips to Cuba. She was excellent. Responded quick and accurately. We go to Cuba once a year and we will use Cuba Travel US (and hopefully Madison) from now on. She made it quick, easy and painless! We love her and this agency. They even posted some of our pictures on the website. The personal touch! Highly recommended.

  • Hi, Madison,
Just a note to let you know that Maria and I had a wonderful time on our trip - we just got back after a 2 week visit.  Everything went exactly as planned and we were very satisfied.  We ran into another couple from Florida who were visiting under one of your packages and they had a great time as well.

The highlight of the trip was the Hotel International in Varadero.  It was a nice experience and the all-inclusive package included shows, meals and and drinks.

By the way, now that passports are required for travel to Mexico, we wound up with 2 stamps showing coming into Mexico about 10 days apart.  We were going to say that we had taken a short private flight to Belize for a diving trip but that turned out not to be necessary as the US immigration did not question the double stamps.  Something to let your readers know about however...

    Thanks for all your help

  • Madison.
what a wonderful experience!  I've never met nicer, more upbeat people.  We were welcomed wherever we went.  Pablo is a truly terrific person and a wonderful guide.  He took us to his home to meet his wife and son.  He also took us to his mother's house for a short visit.  We even had lunch with friends of our driver when we went to Trinidad  Everyone in the world was so very welcoming.  We had a really outstanding visit.
thanks for all your help in arranging it.

  • Had a great trip and no probs at US customs in Miami even though Mexican customs did stamp passport.

  • I want to thank you for all your effort in putting together such a
wonderful trip for us.  The Santa Isabel was a gem and in such a great
location.  The staff couldn't have been nicer and I became very
friendly with several of them.  The same was true of the Ingleterra.
Also thoroughly enjoyed staying in a Casa and getting to know local
    people.

Cuba is a country of such startling contrasts.  Despite all the
hardships and lack of "extras" and conveniences, the spirit of the
Cuban people is amazing.  Their music is fantastic.  I was so happy I
took a lot of things to give away, such as soap, shampoo, toys and
books for kids, etc...etc.... They seemed so appreciative.  Especially
the little boys who were thrilled to get bouncing rubber balls after
having played ball with a stick and a bottle cap !  I almost caused
another revolution with a limited number of them to give away.  I was
followed through the parks and streets like the Pied Piper !  I would
take a LOT more next time.  I definitely want to go back and will
contact you again when the time comes.  Everything went so smoothly
this last time that I would do the same thing again. I am learning
Spanish and next time want to have easier conversations with people in
    their language.

I am so sorry to learn of your family's loss.  Hope things are going
    okay for you.  It's hard.

Thank you again for all your wonderful help.

    Warmest regards,

  • We returned the 28th from Havana, and had the most wonderful trip!  Thank you so much for your efforts, and insights. Divermex were right there when they were supposed to be and got us on our way easily.  What a beautiful hotel (Isabel), with wonderful staff;  our upper level room with veranda overlooking Arms Plaza was outstanding.  Everything worked well, lots of hot water, lovely dining room and more food than we could eat at breakfast.  From there we stayed at a casa up near the fort, and found it accidentally by eating dinner there ( Casa Dona Carmela).  Nice garden restaurant, clean rooms with modern baths, and good food at 50% off as casa guests, and a cheap taxi to town.  After that we went to Ingleterra that was almost a problem, as when we arrived mid-morning they said we needed to go to a different hotel as they were full!  We were not happy about the situation, but they worked everything out quickly and once again terrific rooms, mine 3rd floor looking on to the park and main street.  Lots of night life, great salsa and wonderful people

My sister and I took a day trip to Veradero, and one also to Vinales and Pinar del Rio.  Leaving Havana the Divermex rep at the airport got us to the head of the lines, and also excellent first row seats for the flight..
We were a bit nervous coming through at Cancun about getting our passport stamped, but he stamped the visa paper inside the passport and not the passport itself.  we had heard a couple of stories of people being cited.
Felt safe at all times night and day,  but used good sense where we traveled and without excess bags etc..
We carried what we called  "beggar bags" with soap. shampoo. toothbrushes, small toys etc.  The bags were those small brown bags with handles from ACE hardware.
I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to see Cuba as it is now, and to hear so many interesting tales from those who live there.
I will send a photo or two when I go through them.
Thank you so much, and the best to you and your family.

  • we had a FANTASTIC time in cuba this past week.  your help and advice made the trip a "piece of cake"

simple entry into havana, no stamped passport.

kudos to the company you do business with for transfers and hotel vouchers.  each driver was 10 minutes early.  the national hotel was fantastic, over 75 years old.  we took the $19 city tour but was disappointed as 90% on the bus were spanish speakers, they received alot more info than we did.  what i would suggest to a similar tour is hire one of the guys that do taxi work.  not only was it a great experience to be driven around in a 1957 ford convertible we also got the "low down" on the real cuba life situation.  i feel bad for the cuban people going from battista to castro.  he thoroughly explained the socialism life he and his family live.  i was shocked, culturally shocked the more he went on.  of course i had a million questions.  what a education i had that afternoon.  the regular tour guy told us the rich sold their houses in miramar and moved to south fla when in fact they abandoned everything when castro was coming to power.  he showed us 5th ave in miramar--50years run down it must have been spectacular.  castro still lives on 5th but you can not see his residence from the street, and of course, no pictures can be taken.

each person gets $10-20 peso a month along with 6 lbs of rice, 20 oz of sugar, 20 oz of beans, 1 chicken and 2 bottles of cooking oil.  of course we learned that anyone connected to tourism has a better life.  we gave this tour guide $80cuc.  he was very appreciative and we were satisfied we had a good idea of the real cuba.  we also found out how here are 2 cubas.  as a tourist i can go to the best beaches and have lobster and primo food and this is off limits to the cubans unless they work there.  i saw the gates allowing us in the "tourist zones" and keeping the locals out--how sad.

anyway we tremendously enjoyed the parisien and tropicana cabaret and we could not decide which one we liked better--they were both fantastic!

we were impressed with the 1950s cars, our guide's car has over 600,000 miles on it.  we took so many pictures.  we will develop them this week which will remind us of other things we learned.

varadero beaches were beautiful.  sol palmeras was delightful.  after seeing where the bungalows were located we chose to be inside the hotel.  they gave us a beautiful  junior suite.  one suggestion, in the future i would bring my own diet soda as few places have coke light.  we saw elian gonzalez's home near the center of the city; they keep a gaurd at the door.

leaving havana was a snap and we cleared us customs in Nassau.  it appears that we spent the entire week in Nassau and we walked through immig and customs very simple.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              this week i would like to make a contribution to some org that would help the cuban people.  my first thought was the red cross and earmark it for cuban--any suggestions?  thanks again for all your help.

  • Dear Madison,

1.Thanks for the help in planning and executing my trip to Cuba. I had a great adventure and your arraignments were top notch. Thanks for comforting and reassuring my wife. If they had milk cartons in Cuba , I probably would have seen my face on one.

  • . My wife and I had the trip of a lifetime! I am very grateful for all of your help.
We loved Habana Viejo, had a great birthday lunch, cocktails and ocean swim at Xanadu in Varadero, and Vinales was indeed spectacular! As much as we loved all of the great scenery, the people we met really made the trip what it was. They are all so warm and friendly!
A few notes for your files:
    1) Rex car rentals does take US credit cards (Visa / Master Card) because they are not based in Cuba or the U.S. (if Internet is working)
    2) The exchange rate to CUC from Euros and Mexican pesos is very similar...a tiny bit better with Euros.
    3) Your man at Havanatur in Cancun Airport was there are very helpful with the voucher package.
We tipped the local people a lot for all of their services and gave many gifts to locals including aspirin and clothing. Again I appreciate all of your help. . Have a nice weekend!

  • I just wanted to say THANK YOU so very much for your help with my trip to Cuba.  It was absolutely FANTASTIC.  By far and with no exaggeration, it was the best trip of my life, on so many levels.

I was a little nervous when leaving Nassau - not that I had any reason to worry, but I was just scared that something was going to go wrong.  I was just so excited.  Everything went perfectly according to plan and there was never any reason to worry.

My only complaint: you should have a warning on your website that tells people that they WILL fall in LOVE with this place and absolutely HATE leaving.  Trust me, I will be in touch soon to book another ticket - I need to get back there as soon as I can!

    Thanks again, a million times.

    Sincerely,

  •  I meant to write you a long time ago - to thank you for all of your help to arrange our visit to Cuba in May.    We enjoyed it very much - it is a very interesting place.  The combination of the city and the country side was perfect for us.  La Habana has so much to see, we have to go back.  And I loved Vińales - what a pretty place!!  We had a great time.

If you ever need a reference - if you have clients that are hesitant to book or would like a recommendation from another client whose trip you arranged - feel free to give them our e-mail, or feel free to use us as a reference.

Thank you so much for everything.   You did a great job and we appreciate it.

  • Hola!

The flexi drive worked very well for us, we would probably do it again and we felt it was a great way to travel and see the country side.

Thank you for the offer to a credit that is very generous of you. As I said we will definitely go again, it was a beautiful experience for both of us.

Having my Birthday in Havana was a dream come true!

We had dinner that night at the Hotel National and the staff gave me a whole cake!

The people and the country side was incredible! (I'm sure you hear this from every one) and we have been telling every one we know that they must go!

I think next time we might want rent a house, we have friends that want to go and I think it would be a great way to hang out in Havana. (everything cost so much more then you think it will cost- but we were warned)

so once again Thank you and if you want you can use us as testimonial!

Cheers!

  • Names not included for legal reasons. We will not give out their contact info to reference, even though many offer to do that

I have been out of the habit of posting these, We will try to post them again, maybe one a month,                                            we get too many to post them all. And there has only been one complaint since I started working here over and  decade ago, and that was very minor. the client did not like being on the first floor, and was a late/light sleeper and the noise outside interrupted sleep. maybe 2, the other person felt guilty for staying in the best hotel and there is poverty in Cuba, if that counts as a complaint. Everyone does not give feedback, however, we would love to hear about everyone's experience.
