Nebraska Gov Wants Normal Cuba-US Ties
Havana,
Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) The governor of Nebraska, Dave Heineman, spoke in
favor of normal US-Cuba relations on Monday to facilitate mutually
advantageous bilateral trade.
On this his third trip to Cuba, the US
politician expressed satisfaction and optimism at the expected prompt
signing of two trade agreements which he described as very significant
with executives from the Cuban food exporter ALIMPORT.
Heineman will sign a letter of
understanding at Havana Palco Hotel on Tuesday, to give a boost to
agricultural trade, as he previously did in 2005 and 2006.
The governor pointed out that the
"mutually advantageous" society established with Cuban authorities is
particularly important to Nebraska farmers and ranchers, and condemned
the restrictions imposed by the US economic blockade of the island
nation.
"We will continue with our goal of
trading with Cuba, we express our gratitude for that relationship and we
will continue to expand it in the future," stressed Heineman, who
travels with 30 businesspeople from his state.
In statements to reporters upon
arriving in Havana, Heineman said that it is encouraging that beans and
other cereals from Nebraska can be exported to Cuba, despite Washington
s economic blockade.
Due to the blockade, Cuba must pay in
cash and in advance for all goods imported from the United States. |
