FISHING IN CUBA
Cuba for bonefish
An all new Cuban bone fishing area opened in February 2001. This area has opened and catches of 10-25 bonefish per day are being recorded by our clients and guides. Price is $2100 for 7 nights / 5 days of fishing plus transportation.
One of the other bone fishing destinations in Cuba is on Cayo Largo where there is a small fishing club with 4 boats and facilities for up to 8 fishermen. This is a destination that offers one of Cuba's most beautiful islands with about 7 hotels in addition to the fishing club. Fishing here is outstanding and one recent report was good quality bonefish up to 9 pounds being caught. One fisherman reported only one bonefish under 4 pounds during his stay. Lots of tarpon and many, many permit in this area. A paradise it is! Cost of this trip is $2900 for 7 nights / 5 days of fishing, plus the cost of getting to Havana. This is an Italian run operation.
The Tortuga The third operation is the Tortuga, a floating hotel located in the Bay of Anna Maria. The facility will house up to 30 fishermen or scuba divers. This is the area that we opened with American fishermen in 1980. Many Americans know it as the Last Paradise Keys. Canadians know it as the Garden of the Queens and officially is is Jardines de la Reina. The boats are excellent as is the food and the Italian managers are lots of fun. Price is $3500 per person for a week long trip plus the cost of getting to the city of Jucaro, Ciego de Avila.
Explorador and Halcon The above two live aboard boats work in connection with the operation of the Tortuga, mentioned above.
Cuba for Marlin and Sailfish

|
April, May and June seem to be best for the white marlin and sailfish. July, August, September and October are best for the blue marlin. The Gulf Stream comes right in front of Havana making Cuba one of the world's top destinations for bill-fishing if you know exactly when to go. We think we know. Cuba Travel U.S.A. actually promoted the first Ernest Hemingway International Marlin Tournament. There are a number of locations in Cuba where one can fish for the marlin or sailfish....but none are more famous than the Ernest Hemingway Marina. Cuba Travel U.S.A. has been taking American fishermen and hunters to Cuba since 1977. We know all the secrets. As a matter of fact....we invented most of them. Many Americans like to visit the Hemingway Marina as a group (minimum of six) and here is how our "Cuban Marlin & Sailfish" program works: Day 1....arrive in Havana at the Jose Marti International Airport where a Cuba Travel U.S.A. representative and a Cuban interpreter will meet you and stay with you for the remainder of your week long trip. Go directly to Marina Hemingway. Enjoy your first night in Cuba with a get acquainted dinner at the famous Papa's Restaurant. Days 2-7.... Fish morning and afternoon for these six days. Enjoy a farewell dinner the last night at Havana's best Italian Restaurant only a few hundred yards from your hotel room. Day 8....After a tour of Colonial Havana, your trip ends at the Jose Marti International Airport for your flight back home. *Numerous options are available including scuba diving, golf, tennis, night-clubbing, etc. Price: $2195 per person (double occupancy). Single supplement is $225. *Prices sometimes can vary depending upon the number of people and the size of the boat. |
