This hotel isn’t smart or
luxurious and leaves quite a lot to be desired on the aesthetic front, but
it has one of the best views in Havana. It overlooks the wide sweep of the
Malecon, a huge expanse of ocean and the romantic Morro Castle and its
famous lighthouse.
This hotel is located on the Malecon, with a beautiful ocean view and a
swimming pool on the top of the hotel. Peaceful it is! The
hotel is 14 stories, has 144 rooms, with balconies, hot water and
air-conditioning. It has a cafeteria with view on the roof, a disco
in the basement and a restaurant off the lobby.
The lobby is painted in tones of peach and terracotta and has rather
loathsome sixties-style banquettes. The semi-pornographic wooden
sculptures at the front desk certainly take one’s mind off check-in delays
but can provoke embarrassing questions from outspoken offspring.
Hotel has been very recently renovated. It is, excellently located for
exploration of Old and modern Havana and there are good views of the city
from its rooftop pool terrace.
On the first floor there is a restaurant called “Carta Nostra”, stylishly
decorated with tables facing the sea.
