Taking kids to Cuba can be a delightful
experience. There is no place in the world that treats and loves kids
any more than Cuba. It just may be the most family oriented society on
the face of the earth. Not only do they love their own kids....they
love all kids.
Additionally, Cuba is without a doubt the
safest country for travel in the Western Hemisphere. There is
virtually no crime, no drug problems plus the care of all children is
primary. This is one place that "it takes a village to raise a child",
and it works.
Women and children can actually walk the
streets of any Cuban city even at night without fear. There are few
cars on the road other than government vehicles and rental tourists cars.
There aren't any street gangs, homeless people, hand guns, etc. It is
as close as you can get to a crime free society.
The Cubans are very healthy with a life
expectancy about the same as ours. Their infant morality rates are
better than in some American cities. Everyone in Cuba gets free health
care and education. Their literacy rates are better than ours.
Even though you might read and hear a lot
about the incredible nightlife in Cuba, sex, Cuban music, etc., there are
places like Varadero Beach, Cayo Largo, Cayo Coco, Guardalavaca and others
that are pretty much dedicated to tourism for families with children.
Kids under age two usually stay at hotels for
free. Kids between age 2-12 are charged 50% of the adult rates and
kids over 12 pay adult prices.
We think Cuba is tops as a place to take your
kids (all ages).
