Dear Cuba Policy Advocates,

Happy New Year!  And welcome to a year of possibilities for change.  With your participation, the impact we can make on U.S.-Cuba policy in 2009 will be substantial.  Let's not let this opportunity pass us by.  We'll be back to you soon with information on new legislation to end the travel ban, requests for constituent action on Cuba policy in your districts, and updates on administration moves on travel regulations.

Please Save the Date:  Plan on joining us in Washington, DC, for Cuba Consultation 2009 on March 5 and 6, to come together on a common goal to end the ban on travel for all Americans, strategize together, participate in specific Cuba issue workshops, and to spend a day on the Hill educating members of Congress on constituent preferences for a new Cuba policy.  Annually we gather in Washington for a consultation sponsored by a breadth of national organizations to add our voices to the increasingly common call to change Cuba policy.  A formal invitation will be coming to you soon from us and our partner organizations.  It's a great time to gather with old friends and to meet new activists on Cuba policy from across the country.

If you haven't yet signed our petition to soon-to-be President Obama on U.S. policy to Latin America (including a good paragraph on Cuba policy), there is still time to do so at
www.lawg.org.  Click on the link on the center story, Tell Our Next President to Take a New Approach, on our home page, www.lawg.org.  Together, we CAN make a difference.

Sincerely,

Mavis Anderson
